“Kids today…”
This past Remembrance Day at McCrae House, I watched hundreds of young students stand in silence, in wind and snow, to pay tribute to veterans and to those who did not return from war. As they honoured those who served and sacrificed, they also paid respect to Indigenous people and the land we share. They spoke of our need to use the hard-earned freedom we enjoy for the cause of peace, justice, and environmental protection. They modelled the strength of a diverse, inclusive, and caring community. They get it.
These kids today are not just leaders of tomorrow; they are our leaders now.
On the world stage, 15-year-old Anishinaabe water activist Autumn Peltier urged the global community at the United Nations to respect the sacredness and importance of clean water. Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old Swedish activist, inspired a global youth movement to fight climate change. And, in Guelph, we are surrounded by thoughtful, compassionate, smart kids who are facing enormous challenges. They are on the frontlines of protecting our planet, reconciling with First Peoples, and creating diverse, inclusive and respectful communities. There is a lot we can learn from them. There is a lot they can learn from history that will inspire future actions. At Guelph Museums, we strive to support young leaders with knowledge and tools to make informed decisions, to innovate, and to lead.
We invite you to invest in a healthier, more harmonious future by supporting kids today.
Your gift to Guelph Museums will:

As 2019 comes to a close, and we look forward to a new year -- and a new decade -- full of challenges and promises, please consider a gift to Guelph Museums as an investment in our future (and current) leaders.
Sincerely,
