Fee: For CAPSGW members in good standing the fee is:
     • FREE for those that pre-register on Eventbrite      • $20 for those that register at the door
Guests are invited and encouraged to attend, but are limited to 1 non-member guest per member and must be registered by a member.  
The fee for guests is:      • $25 for those that pre-register on Eventbrite      • $40 for those that register at the door
Registration at the door fees are payable via cash, check or credit card at the door.

Dr. Laura Willing is on faculty at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC and has academic appointments to the departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at George Washington University.  Dr. Willing completed her general psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill before serving as the APA Jeanne Spurlock Congressional Fellow.  
During her year with the U.S. Senate, Dr. Willing worked on passing Mental Health Reform legislation and fought for affordable, quality health care for all, especially those in under-served populations. Dr. Willing has worked closely with AACAP in several capacities. She was an AACAP resident scholar with the government affairs depart, an Assembly Delegate from North Carolina during her fellowship, is serving on the AACAP Advocacy Committee, and is currently an Assembly Delegate for CAPSGW.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session the participant should be able to:


Identify the structure of a Congressional Office


Identify strategies and tips for advocating for health care policy


Identify three ways to become involved in mental health advocacy as a trainee or practicing provider


Identify at least two current healthcare issues being debated at the federal level.
