Alameda Creek/Niles Canyon Habitat Stewardship Feb 9, 2020, Alameda Creek - Niles Canyon, Sunday, 09. February 2020

Did you know that invasive plants are one of the biggest threats to healthy ecosystems and habitat for fish and wildlife?  Imagine if all of your food choices were limited to one food item in grocery stores- that's what invasive plants are doing to some of our highest-quality habitat along Alameda Creek.
Come help us remove these invasives and support the natives that feed the food web as we steward our adopted area along Alameda Creek.  This continues past work by ACA volunteers, and your efforts are enhancing habitat for fish and wildlife along Alameda Creek now and for years to come!  Come and learn about your local watershed and meet fellow watershed stewards!
We'll meet at 10 am in the Niles Staging Area picnic grounds.  Parking is very limited at Niles Staging Area, so please park along Old Canyon Rd. where parking is ample.  We'll work until 12:30 pm.
Please wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes that can get dirty (no sandals or flip-flops). We provide gloves and tools. The work isn't on much of a slope, but the ground can be uneven. The ground and vegetation will likely be cool and wet when we start, so please wear clothes that can get damp and possibly dirty.  Heavy rain cancels.  Those who register can expect an email in the event of a cancellation.
Please bring water for yourself in a re-usable bottle.  It's important to have water when working outdoors, and bringing your own reusable water bottle is the most sustainable way to stay hydrated.
All participants need signed waiver forms (one for the ACA and one for Alameda County), and anyone under 18 needs a parental signature.
No need to print out your ticket
