Beasts OCR Race Local 2020

We want to support the non-national race brands in hopes that they stick around and grow so we have more races to do!

About this Event

A Beasts OCR Community Support Challenge (Race Local)

Beasts like races and we like local events the best. We don’t have to drive far or fly to race. We want to support the non-national race brands in hopes that they stick around and grow so we have more races to do! We have lost too many local races in the past few years (The *******, Gladiator Rock and Run, ****’s Run at Burnt Ridge to name a few). So lets complete as many as we can in 2020 and beyond!

How to Earn

Throughout 2020, Beasts OCR Members and other racers who would like to get the Beasts OCR Race Local moral patch would have to compete in at least 6 local races in the calendar year to earn the patch. Events that take place from January 1st 2020 – December 31st 2020 are accepted.

Preferred Partner Races are:the Sagitta Endurance Series

If a race is not listed here, but meets the criteria, you may enter the URL on the log and someone will verify.

If there is an option to join or create a team, please remember to use the team name of Beasts OCR so we can show our strength and support as a team. If outside of the PWN, please choose the proper team name.

Most of the events listed here are in the PNW or adjacent. This is because that’s the home base of Beasts OCR. Local Races is just that.. local to where YOU are. If you travel to a different state or country and run in a race that is local (non national, small event), you are there running in that local race. It counts.

For the first year (2018), any non traditional road race was acceptable, some small 5k road races were counted. This year it’s a little different. Trail Races, OCR, Endurance events are all good, we are an OCR team after all, and if any race counted, I’d have to up the requirements as there are tons of local 5ks and such. We’re not saying you should not support those races, you totally should, but they will not count for this challenge.

How to Track

Please log your races at https://beastschallenge.com/events/supporting-local-races-2020/

A picture will be required when completing a race and should include bib and/or medal received.

Below is the Moral Patch that will be sent out to everyone who registers:

Patches will be mailed out after the end of the year or when your completed races have been verified. If you complete 6 of the local events and send in your proof of completion, you will get a «VERIFIED» pin affixed to the patch to prove that you indeed, #RaceLocal.

Entry Fee

The entry fee for this challenge is $5 to cover our costs for the patch, shipping and handling.

Extra Perks

We are talking with race directors of these events to see if we can get some perks for the people who complete the challenge for the 2021 season (or the 2020 season if that works better for the race).

#RACELOCAL

NOTE: This is a year long challenge, so registration will be available for the entire year.

One Final Note

With this challenge, we are not saying the big races are bad or not worth doing. Quite the opposite. The big brand races help spread the word and offer a great race. The big brands come once, maybe twice a year. Having the local races keeps our season going when the big ones move on to the next location. Not everyone can travel and chase the multiple trifecta’s, stars or rad race status bling.
