Our eighth Concert for the End of Time features the internationally-renowned young artist Tim Beattie on solo guitar. Having won first prize at the Brussels International Guitar Competition, the Hamilton International Guitar Competition, and most recently, and the audience prize in the Ex-Aequo International guitar competition, Tim is emerging as one of Canada's young classical guitar superstars! Livestreaming from his home in Barrie, Tim's concert promises to be unforgettable and truly unique.

About the Performer:



Born in Toronto in 1997, Canadian guitarist Tim Beattie is currently pursuing his Master’s degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying with Allan Neave and Matthew McAllister. In 2019, he graduated with distinction (*** Laude) from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance under the tutelage of Gabriel Bianco and Lex Eisenhardt. Prior to that, he spent a year studying with Grammy Award-winning guitarist Jason Vieaux at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he was the recipient of the 2016 Ablan Honors Award for excellence in guitar studies. Drawn to the guitar at a very young age, Tim spent his formative years studying with maestro Robert Hamilton at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, where he was invited to join the RCM’s elite Taylor Academy pre-college programme.



Named “Most Promising Youth” at his hometown’s 2016 Arts and Culture Awards in Barrie, Tim has since been recipient of numerous awards including top prizes at the Antwerp International Guitar Competition, Brussels International Guitar Competition, Ex-Aequo International Competition, Hamilton International Guitar Competition, James Stroud Guitar Competition, North East Scotland Guitar Society Award, Twents International Gitaar Competition, Uppsala International Guitar Competition, among many others.



Performance highlights include appearances at the Brussels International Guitar Festival, Cleveland International Classical Guitar Festival, Chamber Music Orillia, Cleveland Museum of Art, Cultura Ede, Enkhuizen GitaarFestival, FirstOntario Concert Hall (supporting KD Lang), Guitar Society of Brantford, Montreal International Guitar Festival, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ Amsterdam (with CvA Score Collective), Spiegelzaal in Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam (supporting Ludovico Einaudi), Sauble Beach Guitar Festival, Ullapool Guitar Festival (Scotland), and Wigmore Hall. Tim has been featured on several TV & Radio programmes including Podium Wittemann (Dutch national television), CTV2 Barrie, Concertzender Actueel (Dutch national radio), and the Drew Marshall Show (Toronto Radio), as well as the online platform Young Classicals.



He has had masterclasses with many of the world’s leading pedagogues, including Jorge Caballero, Roland Dyens, Marcin Dylla, Marko Feri, Johan Fostier, Paul Galbraith, Bill Kanengiser, Irina Kulikova, Rovshan Mamedkuliev, Jeffrey Mcfadden, Matteo Mela, Lorenzo Micheli, Judicaël Perroy, Göran Söllscher, Benjamin Verdery, and many others.



An avid proponent of chamber music, Tim has enjoyed collaborative projects with the North American Guitar **** (with David Steinhardt and Evan Dim), Rosanne Philippens, Karin Strobos, François Lambret, Ella van Poucke, the Sauble Beach Guitar Quartet (with Jeffrey McFadden, Pat Feely, Michael Kolk), the CvA Score Collective (directed by Ed Spanjaard, Nieuw Ensemble), and many others.
