Cinco de Mayo at the Voelker Orth Museum, Voelker Orth Museum, Sunday, 05. May 2019

The Cinco de Mayo festivities recognize Mexican heritage and some of Mexico’s lesser known German cultural influences. It’s an afternoon of music, food and drink outdoors, if the weather permits. Jorge Espinosa will be performing on Mexican folkloric harp. And, we’ve added some traditional craft activities to a leisurely musical brunch.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican victory at the Battle of Puebla, defeating the French troops on May 5, 1862. The French prevailed and sent the Archduke Maximillian of Austria to rule until 1867. That period brought German beer brewing techniques and new musical influences to Mexico.
General Admission $25 and $20 for Members, food and drink included.   If the weather is inclement, the festivities move indoors.
