City Nature Challenge Identification Event, American Society of Landscape Architects, Tuesday, 30. April 2019

City Nature Challenge pits cities around the globe in a friendly competition to observe and identify the most biodiversity in their communities while tapping the greatest network of local volunteers. More than 160 cities in 30 countries worldwide will participate in this two-part challenge over 10 days, and the data they collect will give scientists valuable information on the biodiversity of our region – and the planet. In 2018, DC finished 5th. Using our unique skills as architects, urban designers, and landscape architects, help DC win the top prize in 2019! Bragging rights will ensue.
Our Potomac ASLA Chapter is joining forces with AIA|DC’s Urban Design and Design + Wellbeing committees on this event.  Landscape architects, architects, planners, and more are all welcome to participate.
Bring your laptop or tablet to this special event, where you will identify as many DC area photos taken from April 26-29 and loaded into the iNaturalist app.  Teamwork is welcome and reference materials are allowed!  This is an opportunity to share what you know and found, build your species IQ and network with local design professionals while pursuing a common goal.  No prior experience is necessary!
Visit and for more information. Download the iNaturalist app to participate and check out this guide to getting started: .
Join in the fun and make new connections.  Food & drink will be provided! Thanks to our sponsor, Rain Bird.
