Collaborative Problem Solving Conference for Early Childhood Educators, Middlesex School, Friday, 13. March 2020

This year CPT's 18th Annual Early Childhood Educator's Conference is on the topic of "Collaborative Problem Solving" featuring the internationally renowned speaker and noted author, Dr. Stuart Ablon, from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.  A dynamic and engaging speaker, Dr. Ablon was ranked #5 on the list of the world’s top rated keynote speakers in the academic arena!
"Rethinking Challenging Behavior: 'Where There’s A Skill, There’s a Way!' An Introduction to the Collaborative Problem Solving Approach" will allow participants to learn the value of this paradigm-shifting model to transform classroom discipline.  It has been shown to reduce behavioral challenges, teacher stress and disciplinary interventions while helping our most at-risk students build the skills they need to succeed. Based on the latest neuroscience which shows that challenging students lack the skill―not the will―to behave, the evidence-based Collaborative Problem Solving approach provides educators a clear framework that can be implemented in both general and special-education settings.
Our presenter, J. Stuart Ablon, Ph.D., is the Director of Think:Kids in the Dept of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is also Associate Professor and the Thomas G. Stemberg Endowed Chair in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ablon is author of the books Changeable: The Surprising Science Behind Helping Anyone Change, Treating Explosive Kids: The Collaborative Problem Solving Approach, and The School Discipline Fix. Dr. Ablon received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of California at Berkeley and completed his training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ablon trains parents, educators, and clinicians, and helps organizations throughout the world implement the Collaborative Problem Solving approach.
