College of the Desert Veterinary Assistant Program

College of the Desert is pleased to announce a new NAVTA approved Veterinary Assistant training program beginning November 4th, 2019 at PaCE. The class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm – 9:45pm. The class ends on April 15th, 2020 with a 100 hour externship following the end of class ending in August, 2020. This 300-hour program is offered in partnership with MK Education and is designed to help individuals advance their current healthcare career or to find entry-level employment in this field. The program prepares students for employment as a Veterinary Assistant in California and also for national certification through the National Association of Veterinary Technologists in Americare (NAVTA). This will make students eligible to sit for the Approved Veterinary Assistant (AVA) certification exam. Click here for more program info. College of the Desert is a Certified Training Provider for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a federal law which provides training for people who are out of work, those that need training to change career paths, or people whose skills need improving in order to obtain a new job. Candidates must be determined, eligible, and suitable in order to receive WIOA funds. If eligible, candidates can have their full tuition covered as well as any additional expenses necessary to start a new career. College of the Desert offers training programs, but does not determine if you qualify for WIOA training funds.
