The Courageously Curvy Girls Foundation was established in 2013 to combat childhood obesity in girls of color by empowering them through physical fitness, health and wellness, community service, scholastic achievement, and advocacy. Since its existence our organization has done such through our #LIVELIFE Walking/Mentoring Program, The Urban Olympics, and the recent launch of our Journey to 150,000 Miles Walking Initiative as well as many other community partnerships and workshops. These continued achievements serve as a constant blueprint that no matter society says WE CAN DO ANYTHING!!! Now in our second year of production the Courageous, Curvy and Paving the Way Awards Luncheon was created as a premiere fundraiser of the organization to honor those who have achieved excellence in the areas of service, philanthropy, education, entrepreneurship and the arts. This years awards recipients are Yvette Bennett, Kyla Carpenter, Akira Armstrong, Nicole Phifer, Kisha Banyan-Shepherd, Sonja Freeman, Bandeltettes, Latoya Snell, and our Man of Distinction Philip Drew.
