Divine Nine 5K is a 5K run/walk-run race that brings together members, family and friends of the Divine Nine organization. Coordinated by the National Pan Hellenic Council participants not only gain the unity and fellowship with others but participate in community service by donating gently used shoes to send to third world countries. The event was established to promote health and wellness in the African American community and to raise funds for college scholarships. Approximately 450 participants, volunteers, vendors and supporters attended the event. To date, the race has raised over $4,500 for college scholarships.The Divine Nine 5K also provides an opportunity for local businesses to show their support for the community through monetary sponsorships and in-kind donations.
