About
ECMC’s “Realizing the College Dream.”  is a curriculum guide that supports teachers, counselors and community-based organization staff in their work to increase the college-going expectations of low-income, first-generation students and their families. The lessons provide students with an opportunity to think of themselves as future college students and to debunk the myth that they cannot afford college.
The guide was written in collaboration with UC Berkeley’s Center for Educational Partnerships.  It is nationally recognized and endorsed by the Pell Institute and the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP). It is appropriate for middle school, high school and community college students, as well as parents and family members. It can be used in a variety of settings including classrooms, after-school programs, Saturday programs, and community based programs.
