Eco-Therapy Walk and Nature Sketch, Highland Park, Saturday, 15. June 2019

Did you know there is a natural oasis right smack in the middle of Brooklyn?  Highland Park is home to Ridgewood Reservoir, one of the oldest watering holes for NYC before the demands of the expanding city moved water supply to the north.  It is a small pond/marshland full of native species of plant, pragmites and red-winged blackbirds.  Join me on a eco-walk that will improve your mental and physical well-being around the perimeter of the reservoir that will take in natural beauty you only thought existed in Long Island or Cape Cod. One of the city's best kept natural gems, Highland Park, is a great place to unwind.  Take in the green.  Get inspired by the natural world around you.  As a trained expressive arts therapist, I will guide you through the untrodden path, tell you the history of this secret neck of the woods, and then lead you on a nature-inpried sketch session.  Bring your mind, heart and body together on this eco-therapy walk.  Studies have shown that "nature perscriptions" at least 20 minutes in the green outdoors lowers blood pressure, improves mood, reduces stress and anxiety.
