Course description

This English for specific purpose course is designed for everyone who wishes to achieve fluency in English language. You will improve your English while discovering psychology as it applies to multiple life contexts.

The best way to achieve fluency in a foreign language is to learn new interesting concepts and ideas that you do not already know in your native language. This 10-week course has been specifically designed for non-native English speakers who wish to further their knowledge of English while learning about Psychology. As psychology is relevant to all areas of life, this course is useful to everyone.

The course runs on Wednesdays (6-8:30pm): 2.5 hours per session, with 2-hour sessions given by leading experts, and 30 minutes Q&A and informal discussions over a drink – allowing for participants to also socialise with each other.

This course enables students to expand their vocabulary and to develop their receptive and productive skills in the English language while engaging with fascinating psychological concepts and discoveries. All sessions tie in with each other and are flexibly delivered to meet participants’ needs.

Each week will focus on the development of vocabulary and speaking skills as well as understanding subject-specific spoken and written language. Each week will explore different psychological topics, including personality, human mind processes and influences, consciousness, attribution errors, cognitive biases, hedonic and eudemonic motivations, and much more.

Of the thousands of degree-granting universities, Goldsmiths Psychology department is in the World Top 100 in the QS ranking for academic reputation.
