Forge Gardening Know What You Grow: Planning a Fall Garden, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Tuesday, 20. August 2019

Please join us on August 20, 2019, for a day filled with activity and education, so that you too can know what to grow.
Planning a Fall Garden with Cancer Nutrition Education
Fall is known as one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. The breathtaking hues of the leaves, the “just right” temperature, and the extra hour of sleep all serve as confirmation that autumn has arrived. However, as it relates to gardening, many question how to appropriately plan for a fall garden.
In this month’s gardening class, a Master Gardener will teach participants about the appropriate methods to plan and care for their fall garden. In addition, participants will start their own kale garden from a peat pot.  Furthermore, a specialist in oncology and nutrition with a passion for exploring effective lifestyle interventions to improve the lives of those impacted by cancer will share about vegetable gardening and nutrition during treatment throughout survivorship.
To reserve your place, we request a $5 reservation fee. Scholarships are available; for more information please contact Forge at 205-838-6159.
Hosted by Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, and Birmingham Botanical Gardens; Forge's monthly classes are for anyone who has ever been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as their loved ones and the healthcare professionals that serve them.
