How to Avoid Online Scams (Information Literacy Series Part 1), Loveland Public Library, Monday, 16. September 2019

Digital information literacy – the ability to identify, find, evaluate, and use information effectively online – is an important skill for people of all ages to have in today’s connected society. In this workshop series, learn the skills, tools, and tips needed to be a capable and conscious digital citizen. This class is part of a series: they can be attended individually, but are most effective when taken together.

Part 1: Sept 16, 5:30-7pm
Avoiding Online Scams teaches you how to identify and evade disingenuous or potentially harmful  internet transactions.

Part 2: Sept 30, 5:30-7pm
Cybersecurity and Online Safety informs and prepares you to protect yourself and your devices from online security threats.

Part 3: Oct 8, 5:30-7pm
Library, Database, and Researching Tools demonstrates how to use online researching tools, library databases, and more to verify credentials and identify information sources to aid with investigation endeavors. 

Part 4: Oct 22, 5:30-7pm
Fighting Fake News compiles the skills and topics covered previously in the series to help you learn how to spot and combat fake news found online and on social media.
