Idaho Mountain Music in the Wilderness #3

Welcome, curious onlooker, to the third installment of Idaho Mountain Music in the Wilderness. The concept is simple: First 12 people RSVP get entry. I’ll meet you at a centralized location in town (this time, The HandleBar Boise), before carpooling into a designated location in the wilderness. (If the idea of riding in a stranger’s van into the wilderness doesn’t scare you, keep reading). I’ve grown tired of the loud and repetitive practice of gigging in most spots around the city. I said it in a song, and I’ll say it again: Don’t need nothing but the ponderosa pines and my trust banjo — and that’s just what you’ll get if you tag along on this adventure. Wilderness #3 | Wolf Camp This month’s IMMITW will be located further up in the heart of the Boise National Forest, about 1.5 hours from Downtown Boise. Half of the drive is paved; the rest should be done with 4×4/AWD. Because of this spot’s remoteness, plan on bringing camping gear unless you’re willing to travel a forest road by dark. As tradition, I will supply the whiskey. I call this place Wolf Camp because of my only interaction with the animal three years ago. At risk of giving the location away, it’s located in the middle of SW Idaho’s largest wolf pack, the Applejack pack. That was what I was told back in 2016, at least. >> TICKETS: $15 each. Includes whiskey and dessert. >> LOCATION: Meet at the Handlebar Boise at 5 p.m. sharp. You will be given a slip of paper with coordinates on it. Those coordinates will get you to the chosen location outside of town. If you don’t know how to find a location from coordinates, you probably shouldn’t be attempting this one. There won’t be any cell service, running water, and you will be 1.5hrs from Boise. Pack accordingly. Cover image courtesy of Kim Ray
