Invasive Plants and Animals, Shannon Staub Library, Tuesday, 07. April 2020

Non-native invasive plants and animals are one of the leading threats to native biodiversity around the world. They can negatively affect property values, agricultural productivity, public utilities, fisheries, tourism, outdoor recreation, and ecosystem function, and are estimated to cost the United States as much as $120 billion in economic damages and control measures each year.
Invasive exotic (non-native) plants and animals are rapidly spreading in Florida, competing with and displacing our native flora and fauna. Learn about how and when they were introduced to our region. Learn how to identify the most common invasive plants and animals, and what you can do about them to be a responsible property owner.
