Is Spiritual Truth Absolute or Progressive?, Baha'i Center of Nashville, Saturday, 02. November 2019

It is often said that “change is the only constant in life.” But what about when it comes to religion? Is it also possible or even essential for religion to evolve, or are spiritual truths fixed, even as the world around us and we ourselves change and develop?

That the various great spiritual traditions and religions of the world all originated from one divine source is an idea that has become increasingly accepted - or at least suspected - by many fair-minded observers. But beyond recognizing the spiritual truths these various traditions seem to share, is there also some pattern to it all?

From Abraham, to Krishna, Moses, Jesus, Mohammed and others, the history of humanity can be traced alongside the revelations of its great spiritual teachers. Looking deeper at the messages they brought, is it possible to see the commonality expressed in their ideas, their teachings, and their values? And if the world’s religions share a deeper truth, why have these various teachers been sent to us? Is it possible that not only are the world’s religious teaching not in conflict with one another, but were all meant to build one upon the other?

Come join a different kind of conversation – one that welcomes every perspective in a search for the truths that unite us all – as we discuss the spiritual perspective offered by the Bahá’i Teachings on the progressive nature of divine revelation. Join us for a lively discussion as we explore how humanity’s continued spiritual education has contributed to the next stage of its development and progress towards realizing its essential unity.
