Jefferson Barracks Community Partnership Kick-Off, Jefferson Barracks, Wednesday, 13. February 2019

You are invited to visit historic Jefferson Barracks, the oldest, continuously-operating military installation west of the Mississippi River. Today, Jefferson Barracks is home to roughly 2,400 Airmen, Soldiers and civilians who serve in multiple missions here and abroad. They are making real-world impact in air command and control, combat communications, civil engineering, military police and more. And, they come from all corners of Missouri as well as other states across the country. In addition to the federal missions, many units also serve the Missouri governor in times of state emergency duty. They may be your next door neighbor, but they are contributing to our state’s and nation’s defense. To support these Airmen and Soldiers, Jefferson Barracks is revitalizing its Base Community Council.
BCCs at other installations take part in events to strengthen camaraderie with the troops, while supporting families through deployments. Because the 131st Bomb Wing is reinvigorating the BCC, you have an opportunity to not only take part in these types of events, but drive what the BCC looks like moving forward. Join us Wednesday, February 13 to find out how you can get involved.
The visit will begin with an understanding of the missions and how the Airmen and Soldiers fit into the global picture. Then, you will get to walk the grounds that so many military and political leaders have – leaders like Ulysses S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, Chief Blackhawk, Presidents Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman. You’ll hear stories of Civil War casualties treated at JB hundreds of years ago and how the WWII prisoners of war at JB are credited with the founding of “The Hill” in St. Louis. You may even hear a ghost story or two. Then, the evening will end with a formal dinner, when you can visit with Airmen and Soldiers to personally hear their successes or stories of how the Guard Family has impacted their lives.
We look forward to your support of the Airmen and Soldiers of Jefferson Barracks!
