La Docena Sucia, 'The Dirty Dozen', brings together a troop of 12 diverse Artists with varying "offenses" including painting, pen, photography, sculpture & collage. These 12 Artists come together in a visual uprise toward a society that is in ecological, political and social turbulence. In celebration of the freedom to create Art and use its' power for Transformation & Progression, a passionate reaction to the the World in which we exist.
Coinciding with Camaradas El Barrio 12 year anniversary, an East Harlem, historically known as El Barrio, establishment which has supported the Arts and provided platforms for many Artists and Performers. Opening night poetry readings by legendary poet Jesus Papoleto Melendez & local artist Mike McManus.
Loosely based on the WWII cult classic 'The Dirty Dozen' by Robert Aldrich (1967), inspired by the underlying theme of people, particularly Artists in our case, from all walks of life coming together for a greater good. The film will be screened, followed by scheduled artists talks and paint nights throughout the month long exhibit.
