Literacy Kit Kickoff - West End, Walmart, Saturday, 03. August 2019

United Way is ramping up during tax free weekend for another year of Literacy Kits with its annual Literacy Kit Kickoff! This volunteer effort kicks off the start of another year of our Literacy Kit initiative, in support of young learners in our region being prepared for kindergarten and reading on grade-level by third grade. At the Kick-Off, all volunteers will help collect, sort, and count donated school supplies at partnering Walmart locations. With the help of volunteers at this event, United Way will raise awareness of the importance of early literacy and continue the effort to ensure all kindergarteners are ready for school.
Please note:

Volunteers will be outside during their shift at the kickoff.
Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
All volunteers will be asked to sign a media release, liability waiver and volunteer agreement upon arrival.

If you are interested in donating new kindergarten books or organizing a book drive to help us reach our commitment of more than 1,500 Literacy Kits, check out our toolkit and/or e-mail SelleckA@yourunitedway.org.
