Maximizing Esthetics with Laminate Veneering: A Hands-On Course Friday, November 22, 2019 8:30am – 4:30pm Texas A&M College of Dentistry, 6th floor CE Center   Course Summary: Since its introduction more than twenty years ago, the use of porcelain laminate veneers has become a predictable alternative for esthetic restoration of anterior teeth. Growing public demand for cosmetic dentistry, combined with the long-standing desire of dental professionals to conserve sound tooth structure, whenever practical, has led to expanded usage of laminate veneers in today’s dentistry. This newly updated hands-on presentation is designed to give all aspects of tooth laminate veneering. Additionally, it will provide an overview of current materials and techniques, which are designed to produce the highest quality clinical restorations. Course Topics and Objectives: Discussion of the principles of esthetic dentistry Factors determining the esthetic composition for harmonious smile design Esthetic guides for anterior teeth Veneer indications with tips for discolored & malpositioned teeth Treatment planning rationale and concerns Guide and criteria in tooth preparation Provisional restoration techniques Shade selection and lab communications Porcelain veneer fabrication, technique & ceramic systems Evaluation of luting systems Steps in porcelain & veneer bonding Course Presenter: Dr. Mohsen Taleghani Is a Professor and Head of the Department of General Dentistry at the  College of Dentistry. He maintains a part-time private dental practice in Dallas, Texas, with special emphasis on esthetics. Dr. Taleghani has presented lecture and hands-on courses on esthetics, laminates, and composite resins at Baylor and other educational institutions throughout this country and in international venues. In addition to lecturing, his dental research has led to numerous articles and abstracts in various publications.  Disclosures:  Dr. Taleghani has no conflict of interest for this program. There is no commercial support for this program.   Location: Texas A&M University, College of Dentistry 605 Lecture room and 603 laboratory Friday, November 22, 2019 7:30am – 8:30am:     Registration 8:00am – 8:30am:     Breakfast 8:30am – 4:30pm:     Lecture/Discussion/Laboratory Continental breakfast and lunch provided.  Meals are provided in the lobby.   Credit: 7 hours lecture/participation.  There are no pre-requisites for this program as it is a beginning course on veneering techniques.  The lecture will emphasize evidence based dentistry and long term success in clinical dentistry.  The laboratory teaching methods will utilize demonstration and one on one supervision of tooth preparation with Dr. Taleghani. Course Materials Requirement:  None however please bring your own magnification lenses and any special instruments you like to work with when preparing veneer preparation.  Lab materials will be provided.
