Mill Part 1 – 2D Machining (ACTC – 4 Days)

Description: This 4-day course is the first part of the 10-day, three class Mastercam Mill training curriculum. It will provide students with the basic skills required to develop NC programs that require 2-axis and 3-axis milling operations. The student will be introduced to the basic concepts of CAD/CAM geometry creation, editing techniques, as well as 2 and 3-axis machining functions including; contouring, pocketing, drilling, toolpath verification, and post processing. Students will also learn how to create and manage geometry, tool libraries, and machining operations. Prerequisites: MastercamU Mill Design and Toolpath on-line course or like experience. Class is suitable for first time users of CAD/CAM Software. Some computer experience is helpful but not required.   Duration: 4 days   Class Times: Class Times: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm   Course Content Overview: Day 1 & 2: General Overview, CAD Import & Machining Getting Started CAD import Operation Libraries Radial Chip Thinning Dynamic Mill Stock Model Verification Work Coordinate System Creating & Editing Tools/Holders Thread Milling Engraving Geometry Transformation Day 3 & 4: Repairing Geometry, CAD Import & Machining Tolerances Identifying «Broken» Geometry Chaining Groups & Group Operators Advanced Chaining Blending Geometry Masking 2D Projection Machine Simulation Set-up Sheets Productivity Tools Nesting
