Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT) Training, Hayward City Hall, Wednesday, 07. August 2019

NERT training promotes a partnering effort between emergency services and the people that they serve.  The goal is for emergency personnel to train members of neighborhoods, community organizations, or workplaces in basic response skills at their location.  NERT members are then integrated into the emergency response capability for their area.
Taking this course will teach you how to:
• Describe the types of hazards most likely to affect their homes and communities• Describe the function of NERT and their roles in immediate response.  Take steps to prepare themselves for disaster• Identify and reduce potential fire hazards• Work as a team to apply basic fire suppression strategies, resources, and safety measures to extinguish burning materials.• Apply techniques for opening airways, controlling bleeding, and treating shock.• Perform head-to-toe assessments, select and set up a treatment area.  Employ basic treatments for various wounds.• Use safe techniques for debris removal and victim extrication.
The NERT class is taught by Hayward Fire Department personnel at your location.  Training consists of 4 hours of instruction at a date and time that is determined by your organization and the instructor.  The number of attendees should be at least 15-20 people. 
You must be 18 years or older to sign up and a resident of the City of Hayward or the Fairview Fire Protect District.
