“Passing the Business on”
If there’s one thing all family businesses have in common, it’s this: Succession planning is a priority. But how is succession planning done excellently? What if the desire of the next generation to come aboard is lacking? How do you cultivate healthy cross-generational interactions? Keynote speaker Tony Kan will pull from his experiences at Golden Island Jerky to answer these and other tough questions related to passing the business on.
Tony Kan, President, Morrison Trading, Inc.
Tony Kan is the Founder/President/CEO of Morrison Trading, Inc., a trading company that specializes in importing unique Asian products to the US markets based in Upland California. Over the course of his career he has served in multiple leadership roles such as VP of Strategic Development for Universal Foods, where he led an effort to introduce Asian style jerky into mainstream markets and collaborated with Costco, Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club to increase sales by 500% over a five-year period. His passion for improving process and innovating has helped him move his own family business forward and those organizations he has served over the past 20 years.
Mr. Kan believes in family first and creating a shared vision amongst the leaders to pass the family business on. He and his family worked hard to build their family business, Golden Island Jerky, and to cultivate a healthy generational shift that supported him branching off to start his own family business.
