Join Oregon Community Health Workers Association (ORCHWA) on August 16-17, 2019 in Medford, Oregon for their 7th Annual Conference. ORCHWA’s signature event bringing together and educating Community Health Workers (CHWs), Peer Support Specialists (PSS), Personal Health Navigators (PHN), Peer Wellness Specialists (PWS), doulas, Supervisory staff, and other Traditional Health Workers
Featured keynote speaker: Charles K Sams - Communications Director - Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservations

Charles had the honor and privilege of serving in the U.S. Navy from 1988 to 1992 active duty as an Intelligence Specialist with Attack Squadron 155 and in the Naval Reserves from 1992 to 1995 with the Joint Intelligence Center Pacific and Defense Intelligence Agency. For the past 20 years he has worked primarily in the environmental field both in on the ground restoration and executive management. He has worked in major metropolitan areas such as New York City, Washington D.C., and Portland, Oregon. He has worked on salmon restoration issues with nine Pacific Northwest Tribes, helped in securing land for conservation purposes with over 72 Tribes on numerous projects across Indian Country. As a private consultant he has worked with over 250 Tribes developing environmental programming, youth development, fundraising development,and government to government relations. He is currently serving as the Director of Communications for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

The Oregon Community Health Workers Association (ORCHWA) is the statewide professional association for community health workers (CHWs).
ORCHWA was founded in November, 2011 to provide a unified voice to empower and advocate for CHWs in Oregon. ORCHWA is a membership organization and is led and directed by CHW's.
Beyond unifying and strengthening the professional identity of Oregon CHWs, ORCHWA seeks to support CHWs to obtain additional training, provide important networking opportunities, and facilitate CHWs and CHW programs to collaborate with each other, and community, government, health, and educational institutions.
