PAINT YOUR STORY - ongoing community paint night for McMinnville, US, Sunday, 20. December 2020

Note: Please do not sign up for this event on 12-20-2020. The date for this event is a place holder so that we can share this event with you. . .
We will soon announce dates open to the general public, but until then, we will work directly with you to book and create a specific event invite for a date(s) that works for you and your group.
Hi there! In case we haven't met yet, I am Whitney Jayne, an artist and activist, and Hope on the Hill's new Project Creator / Manager for our new beloved "Paint Your Story" project. . . a paint-by-numbers style project, that has been created to share, honor, and visually tell each person's unique story while building connection through both our common ground and differences. In particular, this paint night will foster conversation around homelessness, issues / challenges that **** our most vulnerable community members, and life events that prevent or contribute to our chances of experiencing homelessness. You may be surprised!
DID YOU KNOW 7 MILLION AMERICANS ARE 1 MISSED PAYCHECK AWAY FROM HOMELESSNESS? Are you one of them? As you may have experienced, sometimes we get to be pleasantly in control of our lives and sometimes catastrophic things happen that we didn't have any say in at all. Either way, how we got to where we are today is a beautiful story that deserves to be told, shared, and heard.
Come with us on an eye opening activity to examine the challenges around homelessness and get a look at how close many of us have come to being homeless ourselves (if we haven't already experienced it), and the contributing factors we may not have realized could deal the impossible blow, or help us escape by the skin of our teeth.
THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL PAINT NIGHT EVENT, but it is OH-SO-MEANINGFUL. In this painting activity, we will dive in to some of life's most critical moments, where your life experiences will determine which colors you use, and leave us each with a visual map and artistic encapsulation of some of the most important pieces of our unique life stories. No matter the challenges or blessings we've each faced, in the end, we will be able to witness the literal beauty in your own story as well as the beauty in the unique life stories that surround us.
Join us for a powerful evening of painting, reflection, conversation, and community.
As mentioned above, we do dive in to some difficult questions that could potentially be triggering for some people. That being said, for those that are willing and able to contemplate their life story, these activities are done in a completely safe, nonjudgemental, confidential, and welcoming setting. In addition, while we strive to create an open space for conversation and sharing, painting and contemplation and agreeing to "safe space" rules (confidential, no judgement, no negative talk etc.) is the only thing we ask of our participants.
You are welcome to share your own art piece with whomever you'd like, but as part of keeping this project safe and authentic, any pieces on display will remain anonymous outside of the activity room.
After you sign up, and depending on the event, we may need to e-mail you with changes, updates, or instructions, so please make sure notices from are not sent to your spam folder
