About this Event
The Racial Equity Action Lab invites you to participate in a full-day retreat to achieve a shared understanding of the present-day manifestations of institutional racism and learn competencies in implementing tools and practices designed to ensure your organization’s operations, policies, and programming are aligned with the values of racial equity and social justice.
Participants will engage on the following topics:
• Racial Equity 101: Key Terms and Concepts
o Participants will have a shared understanding of terminology, theories, and frameworks
• The History of Race and Racism: Connecting Our Past with Present Day Manifestations of Social Inequity
o Participants will be grounded in an understanding of the history of race and racism in the United States and how it manifests in the present day
• Neuroscience of Racism: Implicit Bias, Stereotype Threat, and Empathy
o Participants will build awareness, insight, and skills to disrupt implicit bias, mitigate stereotype threat, and cultivate greater empathy
• Anti-Racist Multicultural Organizing Framework
o Participant will assess their organization’s developmental stage in this work
• Racial Justice Morality Development
o Participants will assess their stage of Racial Justice Morality Development
The training begins at 8:30 a.m. and will end at 5:00 p.m. There will be no food provided so please bring your own coffee/water, snacks and anything else you need to be comfortable during the training.
