Rare Disease Day 2020, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Thursday, 27. February 2020

Each year, the Rose F. Kennedy Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC) sponsors Rare Disease Day to highlight work being done at Einstein-Montefiore to address rare diseases, which are conditions and disorders that affect fewer than 200,000 Americans. We host a special presentation and exhibit to raise awareness of known rare diseases—which number over 6,000—in need of research and treatment. Please join us at Albert Einstein College of Medicine on February 26, 2020 for this year's Rare Disease Day.
This year, we will focus on the stories of three families who have experienced their child being diagnosed with a rare disease. We will learn of their journey from diagnosis to the present, and consider how partnerships between family, clinician, and scientist at academic medical centers like Einstein-Montefiore can benefit all.
The day will begin at noon over lunch with a meet and greet between familys affected by KDM5C disorders. Clinicians, basic scientists, and foundation founders will also be available to answer any questions and facilitate converstation. The day will continue on with lectures and on-stage conversations between clinicians/scientists and families, and will conclude with a final meet and greet over refreshments, as well as a possible screening or exhibit (TBD). This is a family and child friendly event.
