We are very excited to announce our first Women’s Conference here at Hickory Flat UMC! Come and join us for a day to Renew your mind, body and spirit while learning from several women, mothers and leaders in our local area! We are also pleased to announce that Karen Stubbs,founder of Birds on a Wire, will be our Keynote Speaker for our Renew Conference! Karen is an author, speaker, wife and mom to four ***** children. During Karen’s years as a young mom, her husband Greg served as a fighter pilot in the Navy. It was during those tough early years, as Greg served overseas during Desert Storm, that Karen grew in her reliance on God and gained a heart for mothers. Karen’s talk, «Parenting According to God’s Design», will provide an in-depth look at the four temperaments and will help mothers understand the unique wiring God has given their children and teach them to become a student of their child so they can parent with greater wisdom and understanding. A Q&A session and book signing will follow Karen’s talk (merchandise will be available for purchase during check in). Lunch will be provided in the Fellowship Hall followed by a choice of two breakout sessions. These sessions will include a variety of topics ranging from Sensory Based Behaviors to a Clutter Free Journey to Parenting Your Grandchildren. We will also be offering a Yoga class as well as a Self-Defense class as some of your breakout session choices! If you choose the Yoga class, please bring a mat with you. There will be a drop off station for your mat when you check in. And yes, yoga pants or comfortable clothes are highly suggested at this event! When registering, please choose your top three breakout sessions. We will do our best to assign you a spot in your top two; however, we will be limited by space in some sessions.
