WVU Safety Symposium 2019: USING BIG DATA TO PREDICT AND REDUCE SERIOUS INJURIES AND FATALITIES
Keynote Speaker: Don Martin, Sr. VP of DEKRA: "Serious Injury and Fatality Prevention: What we're learning and where we heading"
In safety management, what used to be largely compliance problems for young professionals has turned in part to managing huge amounts of data, and how to use it. That means combing injury and fatality data for clues about trends and causation; mastering hundreds or even thousands of spreadsheet entries to best interpret problems upstream and to be able to predict, not just react. This symposium offers examples of how some professionals are handling large amounts of data in a broad variety of environments, ranging from construction to the predicting hand and arm vibration problems in the workplace.
