Community of Hope, Inc., Community Speaks Out, and Groton Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention are excited to announce The Serenity Ball fundraiser event being held on Saturday, February 15, 2010 at The Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa. The Serenity Ball is being held to honor and support individuals in recovery, individuals who are struggling with addiction, and those who have lost their lives to the disease. Your support will allow us to continue our collective missions and positively impact the lives of those struggling with the disease of addiction. The latest statistics indicate that over 1.000 individuals lost their lives to an overdose in 2017, ranging in ages from 17 to 71, coming from all socioeconomic backgrounds; highlighting that the disease of addiction has no boundaries. We thank you for your support, sponsorship, and donations.
Community of Hope (COH) is a non-profit organization with a heart for people. COH operates Hope House located in Groton, CT, which houses women who have emerged from difficult situations and our moving forward with their lives. From spiritual ministry to clothing, COH offers what they can to assist those in need. COH is faith based and their philosophy includes their residents facilitating residents developing a relationship with God and receiving His grace in overcoming addiction.
Community Speaks Out (CSO), also a formed non-profit organization, founded by four New London County residents in March 2015 in response to the lack of support systems available to families who are facing opioid and heroin addiction. CSO assists families with the process of getting individuals who are suffering from the disease of addiction into treatment and sober living. CSO, also located in Groton, offers financial and logistical assistance to individuals, fosters community support, raises in awareness through education on prevention and addiction. CSO believes wholeheartedly that Recovery Is Possible.
Groton Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention (GASP), a community based substance abuse coalition, has worked to reduce and prevent substance abuse among young people in Groton, CT since being formed in 1999. By pulling together businesses, parents, teens, schools, police, youth and health/social service agencies, the coalition has continued to advance their mission: To build a healthy, safe and drug-free community through advocacy and education.
