Surviving After ******* - 7-week ******* Bereavement Grief Workshop, Littleton Adventist Hospital Conference Rm 1, Friday, 02. October 2020

The stigma that your loved one has taken their own life can leave you feeling alone and isolated. You may find yourself in a struggle to survive and then move forward. Find hope in connecting with peers who understand. This workshop will focus on issues and experiences unique to *******.
Surviving After ******* is a seven-week workshop for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one by *******. This workshop is designed to provide members with information about the grieving process and to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space to share their experience and feelings with others who share a similar loss.
Topics will include:


Information on loss, the grief process, and mourning


Depression, mental illness, and ******* awareness education


Addressing the unanswered questions of ******* loss - The “Whys?”, “What Ifs?”, and “If Onlys”, and the "Should Haves", "Would Haves", and "Could Haves"


The emotions and feelings associated with (and unique to) death by *******


Strategies for handling special occasions, "tender days", and the holidays


Relationships - establishing & maintaining familial, friendships and romantic connections


Ways we can remember and honor our loved one’s memories


Coping skills, self-care, and ways to access community resources


Surviving After ******* will meet from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm on Friday nights October 4, 2019 - November 15, 2019, In Conference Room 1 at Littleton Adventist Hospital. 
Pre-registration is required as group size is limited to 8, and attendance at all meetings is requested to facilitate group and individual healing. Cost:  $35/session or $175.00 for the seven-week series if paid in full in advance. This includes all course materials, activities, and light refreshments at each meeting.

About the facilitator:

Charlotte Tankersley is a ******* attempt survivor and a three-time survivor of ******* loss who now uses her lived experience to educate others on mental health, LGBTQIA rights and ******* awareness and prevention across the country.

Charlotte has a BA in Psychology from Argosy University, is youth and ***** Mental Health First Aid and ASIST certified and is also a certified Yellow Ribbon ******* Prevention Program trainer and QPR Instructor. She is the Founder and Executive Director of The Hope Group which provides peer support for teen and ***** ******* attempt survivors, their families, and teens and adults who have lost a loved one to ******* through fee for service one-on-one sessions and community peer support groups. These include Teens Surviving, Striving, and Thriving; Surviving, Striving, Thriving; Group 4F – Fortifying Families and Finding Friendships; Teens Overcoming Grief After *******; and Southwest Metro Denver Survivors of *******, and grief workshops including Surviving After ******* and other topical workshops specific to ******* loss. She is also the Founder of Inner Light Consulting which provides public speakers who speak about issues involving mental health conditions, ******* lived experience, and LGBTQ+ allyship and provides ******* gatekeeper training to individuals, schools and organizations in the Denver metro and Front Range areas. She also provides peer support to parents of newly out LGBTQ+ children, and to significant others, family members, friends, and allies of transgender, gender non-conforming and gender creative individuals through peer support groups and via one-on-one in person or phone support sessions.

Charlotte has facilitated peer support groups for over eight years, worked as a crisis counselor on The Blue Bench’s 24-hour sexual assault hotline and on the National ******* Prevention Lifeline, and also served as a victim advocate for the Sheridan Police Department for several years.
