Under the Bridge: the Criminalization of Homelessness, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Tuesday, 14. April 2020

Think Out Loud 2020 - A selection of curated films and discussion programs on today's issues for people who want to know more.
This film documents one summer in Indianapolis, a tent city under a railroad bridge, a man named Maurice, and the criminalization of homelessness in the United States. Maurice, the unofficial "mayor" of the camp, is an older black man who left a normal life to minister to the homeless. Supported by volunteers who provide necessities, his encampment becomes a real community. But, when the interests of developers prevail, police and bulldozers close in to shut it down. Not rated; runtime: 75 mins.
Discussion to follow with Jennifer Raymond MS, LMHC, NCC, Executive Director, Family Promise of South Palm Beach County.
Please register; suggested donation at the door: $10.  Walk-ins welcome!

Think Out Loud 2020 is a partnership between the Delray Beach Public Library and St. Paul's Mission and Outreach to offer thought-provoking programs on today's most challenging social issues. Look for two programs each month (one at each location) from January through April.
