Values-based Education for Boys, Online, Wednesday, 24. February 2021
About this Event
This webinar will be led by Sam Challenor and is based on research done by the University of Birmingham on developing Knightly Values through literature.
The webinar will focus on different ways in which you can develop values in boys through analysing themes and giving real life context to Knightly Values. I originally designed this course for boys who lacked male role models in an inner London state school however I have found the benefits of this also relevant for boys in a fast-moving International world.
Having originally worked as a police officer, I came across a number of boys who lacked direction, male role models and purpose in their lives. I worked with Metropolitan Police at attempting to engage with these individuals to provide them with some purpose to their lives. On changing career to become a teacher, I found that the root of these problems for many lay at primary school level. Boys were not getting enough direction in their lives. As a teacher I found that the impact we can have on the lives of individuals is greater than you can imagine. I am currently Head of Year 4 at Nord Anglia International School, having started my career at an inner London state school. I have completed a Masters in Leadership and I believe that we, as teachers, have the power to lead others in their development through life.
