Volunteer Bike Parking: Halloween in Japantown (31st October 2019), Halloween in Japantown, Thursday, 31. October 2019

Event Description
We (Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC)) are excited to provide Valet Bike Parking at Halloween in Japantown . Valet Bike Parking is one of many ways that SVBC encourages people to bike to public events. Please read more here: . Earn those extra credit points for school, teach your kids the importance of volunteering & helping your community, maybe it's for the food, or maybe it's your amazing way to connect with your community! Whatever your reasons, please come join us ...
Volunteers at the Valet Bike Parking for this event are key members of the team. It is with your help that Valet Bike Parking is possible. From set up, to welcoming our clients & their bikes, securely storing and watching their bikes, to rolling the bikes back to their owners, to enjoying the Event, to meeting new friends, to advocating for SVBC's mission and much more! Your volunteering, supports SVBC in running successful programs and advocacy while striving to create a healthy community, environment, and economy through bicycling for people who live, work, or play in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties.
So a big thank you in advance!
There will be 2 shifts operating, as detailed below:
 Shift Hours:
1) 3:15pm - 6:00 pm; and
2) 6:00 pm-8:30pm.
What to Expect: Enjoy some fun & laughter with your bicycling family! Volunteering involves event set up or set down, registration of our client's bikes, storing and securing these bicycles, keeping a watchful eye during the event, happily returning them to the attendees after the event and leaving ample time for you to talk to the members of the community. FREE entry to watch San Jose Taiko perform & enjoy some ***** or treating in Japantown is part of the volunteering rewards (as long as there is another volunteer to guard the bikes). What a sweet way to volunteer really!
You may reserve volunteer spots by registering one ticket per volunteer (e.g. if you would like to bring 3 volunteers from your group, you need to register their name (or your's as a place holder) for each ticket). Please try to be as accurate as possible. If you do not end up needing all of the tickets you originally registered for, please notify the Community Projects Manager at kate@bikesiliconvalley.org as soon as possible. If you sign up for a shift, please let us know if things change as early asap. This helps us to try and fill the spot well before the event.
Volunteers will need to be able to comfortably move tables and chairs (can be done in pairs) and remain on their feet for the majority of their shift. Volunteers aged 13 to 18, who are not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian are required to bring a signed waiver form (below) to the Event Lead the day of the event. Volunteers under the age of 13 must also be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to volunteer.
Parents/Guardians, if your child is coming with you to volunteer, the expectation is that they can be independent and support the bike parking program without your need to supervise them the entire time. You will be working together but must be able to leave them unattended at times. If you are unsure if this is an age appropriate volunteer activity for your child, please do not hesitate to contact the Community Programs Manager.
More Information
Once registered, volunteers will be contacted using the contact information provided during your registration. More detailed information will be provided closer to the event date, so please stay tuned! If you have any questions, please email our Community Projects Manager, Kate Plant, at kate@bikesiliconvalley.org or our Membership and Outreach Coordinator, Jessica Waite at jessica@bikesiliconvalley.org.
