Attendees must RSVP to the training. There are a limited number of spots available. Light refreshments provided.
General Refugee Information (9:00am - 10:30am)
The first half of the session is meant to give you an introduction into refugee resettlement. You can expect to learn who refugees are, where they are coming from and why, what their lives are like here in the States, an overview of World Relief and the role of World Relief Sacramento.
Cultural Sensitivity and Empowerment Principles (10:45am - 1:00pm)
During this portion, we will be walking through cultural sensitivity and empowerment principles. These topics allow volunteers to think about self-awareness, personal growth, and the best ways to support refugees given your volunteer involvement.
