Civic Art Lab 2020 | 3-Day Sustainability and Design Lab

Civic Art Lab 2020 Civic Art Lab 2020 will be the 5th iteration of our design and sustainability lab, to be announced at the start of 2020. Our 2019 lab brought together artists, designers, and educators from Columbia University, Amherst College, Pratt, Royal College of Art (UK), Operation Resilient Living & Innovation (ORLI+),  and other independent studios, businesses, and public figures. Workshops, events, and exhibitions led investigations into diverse themes such as: climate change and climate resilience, creative re-use, urban agriculture, sustainable architecture, environmental justice, and more.  Annual topics include, but are not limited to: – Art, design, activist, and scientific collaboration in sustainability- Zero-net-energy and zero waste – Closing the loop in practice- The future of sustainability and resilience- Upcycling and reuse (food, textiles, artistic materials)- Technology and closing the loop + inhabiting the loop- Creative visualizations and analytics on a circular economy  DonorsDonors help to support the instructors (designers, artists, scientists, sustainability professionals, and activists) who generously donated their time teaching in the lab. Includes full registration includes access to the full lab, lunch, and drinks. Civic Art Lab is hosted by GreenspaceNYC (), a non-profit collaborative that develops and curates free educational programming, hands-on workshops, and public design projects that encourage dialogue, enliven public spaces, and promote the future of more equitable and sustainable cities.
